HIV

On the occasion of 1 December, World AIDS Day, National Center of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases and Bulgarian Association of Microbiologists are organizing the National Scientific Conference on HIV and Coinfections for the tenth time. The jubilee conference will take place on 4–5 December 2026 at the Ramada Hotel, Sofia, under the motto “Undetectable = Untransmittable: 10 Years of Science Against Stigma”.

In 2016, the principle “Undetectable = Untransmittable” (U=U) gained broad scientific recognition. It states that a person with HIV who takes treatment regularly and maintains a durably undetectable viral load does not transmit the virus sexually. It is one of the most powerful messages against the stigma faced by people living with HIV.

The forum, held with international participation, will bring together specialists from a range of medical fields. The program includes plenary lectures, scientific communications, expert discussions and a “Meet the Expert” session with leading European specialists.
