Communication on the spread of SARS-CoV-2 variants in the country 13 March 2023

The NCIPD has successfully analyzed 90 clinical samples with SARS-CoV-2 by next-generation whole genome sequencing. The samples were collected from patients with COVID-19 between 06.02-21.03.2023 and were sent from 17 different medical institutions in 16 districts of the country.

Omicron and its subvariants were detected in all samples, including: BA.5.x (6.7%), BF.x/BN.x (18.9%), BQ.1.x (5.6%), CH/DS/EA/ EG/EH (7.8%), XBB.x (58.9%) and XBF/XBK (2.2%).

Pangolin COVID-19 Lineage Assigner v4.2. program was used to define SARS-CoV-2 variants. An epidemiological analysis is being carried out.
