Announcement of the spread of SARS-CoV-2 variants in the country, 11 May 2022

The National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD) reports that 87 clinical samples with SARS-CoV-2 collected from 30 March–14.04.2022 were analyzed by next-generation whole-genome sequencing. The clinical samples were collected in 16 different medical centers, from 13 districts of the country.

All 87 samples were defined as Omicron and its ВА.1 and ВА.2 sublineages. The ratio of Omicron sublineages was as follows: BA.1 (1.1%), and BA.1 including its sub-variants (8.0%), respectively BA.2 (74.7%), and BA.2 including its sub-variants (92.0%).

Pangolin COVID-19 Lineage Assigner v4.0.6. program was used to define SARS-CoV-2 variants. An epidemiological analysis is being carried out.
